Cyrus Mehta Brings On David Isaacson and Cora-Ann Pestaina as Partners

Cyrus D. Mehta & Partners, PLLC, formerly known as Cyrus D. Mehta & Associates, P.L.L.C., announces that David A. Isaacson and Cora-Ann V. Pestaina have become partners in the firm.

David A. Isaacson’s practice includes a variety of family-based and employment-based applications for both nonimmigrant visas and permanent residence, as well as waivers, naturalization and citizenship matters, asylum cases, other removal proceedings such as those stemming from criminal convictions or denied applications for adjustment of status, and federal appellate litigation.

Mr. Isaacson received his J.D. in 2004 from Yale Law School, and clerked for the Honorable Leonard B. Sand of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.  He is a graduate of Princeton University, where he earned an A.B. in Economics, summa cum laude, and certificates in Finance, German Language and Culture, and Political Economy.

Mr. Isaacson is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, as well as various federal courts. He is co-chair of the Federal Practice Committee and CBP Committee of the New York Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and has spoken at many AILA conferences. He is listed in Chambers USA, among other similar guides. He is the author of Correcting Anomalies in the United States Law of Citizenship by Descent, 47 Ariz. L. Rev. 313 (2005), and Waiving Goodbye to Unappealable Decisions: Indirect AAO Jurisdiction, or Why Having Your Appeal Dismissed Can Sometimes Be a Good Thing, 20 Bender’s Immigr. Bull. 831 (Aug. 1, 2015).

Cora-Ann V. Pestaina represents large global corporate clients, emerging growth companies and individuals in a wide range of industries including Information Technology, Finance, Management Consulting, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare and Design. She also represents individuals in family-based applications and naturalization. Ms. Pestaina has extensive experience in representing employers in PERM labor certification matters and regularly counsels clients regarding temporary employment-based nonimmigrant visas and permanent residence sponsorship for their foreign national employees. She also represents artists and investors including EB-5 investors.

Ms. Pestaina received her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law/Yeshiva University.  She is admitted to practice in New York and is a member of AILA. She is presently serving a fourth term as co-chair of the AILA New York Chapter’s Department of Labor Committee and has also previously chaired the Corporate Practice Committee.  Ms. Pestaina has been a speaker on many business immigration panels including at AILA meetings and conferences. She is included in Chambers USA; The Best Lawyers in America; and is ranked by Who’s Who Legal: Corporate Immigration 2016 as being among the world’s leading Corporate Immigration lawyers.
